Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

Regular checkups are vital for early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is among the most common cancers in women. Women who are not at risk of breast cancer should also undergo annual and regular mammography examinations after the age of 40. In women with a family history of breast cancer, however, undergoing regular medical checkups is necessary after the age of 25.

Protection from breast cancer and ensuring that the treatment yields better results require individuals to avoid certain foods and eat plenty of certain other foods. Weight gain and increase of the fat ratio in women with breast cancer can increase the risk of cancer in the other breast as well. Therefore, the goal should be nutrition that reduces fat increase and protects the defense system of the body.

  • White foods, particularly refined sugar, rice and white flour, increase the risk of cancer.
  • Green tea, which is a strong antioxidant due to the polyphenols in its content, helps reduce the fat ratio in the body.
  • Fish, which promises health for people of all ages, prevents breast cancer from spreading.
  • Vegetables and fruits which are rich in antioxidants have a major role in fighting breast cancer. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, red grapes, black mulberries, cherries, blackberries, apricots, peaches, pumpkin, parsley, onions and garlic are rich sources of antioxidants.
  • The risk of breast cancer increases in women whose calcium intake is low. Milk, yogurt, cheese and other dairy products are foods that are rich in calcium.
  • Research indicated that raw garlic reduced the possibility of developing breast cancer.
