4 Years old Berfin has beaten Leucemia!

The great news expected from Berfin who has been transplanted bone marrow has come. Berfin who got transplantation opportunity by the availability of a suitable donor was transplanted. Berfin has been discharged from the hospital after her medical check-ups. Prof. Dr. Gülyüz Öztürk, Head of Acıbadem University Atakent Hospital Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, has explained the successful transplantation process.

Berfin Güneş was almost three and a half years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia. After chemotherapy treatment she needed bone marrow transplantation and, both hospital and her family have used every means possible to bring her back to life. Berfin was lucky! The sought donor was found in 1 day. That relieving news have improved the hope for Berfin’s treatment. Tiny Berfin has been discharged from the hospital after her bone marrow transplantation.

We succeeded all together

Prof. Dr. Gülyüz Öztürk has specified the mile stones to Berfin’s health as follows: “Following the suitable donor was found, there is a huge team behind the conclusion of the transplantation processes. Completion of chemotherapy, treatment of occasional high fever, finally acceptance to the transplantation ward and 40 day transplantation process… If we can remember the treatment adeventure of Berfin with pleasure, it’s due to our whole team including our nurses, and psychologists”.

Berfin’s dream has come true

Berfin’s father said that they had emotional moments while her discharge and during her discharge he has waited for his daughter with colorful balloons in at the hospital door. He who had a moment of joy as his daughter run to him and hug him has expressed his feelings at that moment as follows: “It’s worth the whole world for me to have Berfin run and hug me. I first thank to her mother. She had a huge burden. I wish the other patients a quick recovery. Now our only desire is to play games together. We don’t want anything more.”
