With its experienced medical staff and advanced technological equipment, it provides solutions to even the most complex orthopedic problems. A multidisciplinary approach is used to ensure that patients return to their daily lives quickly.

Special Diagnostic Methods Used at Acibadem Orthopedic Department

Acibadem Healthcare Group uses advanced technology equipment and special methods for orthopedic diagnosis, ensuring accurate and fast results.

Digital Radiography (X-ray): It is often preferred in the diagnosis of fractures, dislocations, and joint disorders. Digital technology produces clearer images and minimizes radiation exposure.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Used to detect injuries to muscles, ligaments, tendons, and soft tissues. It provides a detailed evaluation, especially for sports injuries.

Computed Tomography (CT): Preferred for evaluating fine details in bone structure and complex fractures. It assists in surgical planning by providing high-resolution images.

Ultrasound: Used to quickly and conveniently visualize soft tissue, muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries. It offers advantages in pediatric patients and in cases where dynamic evaluation is required.

Arthroscopic Imaging: Intra-articular problems are directly visualized using a minimally invasive method. It is used for both diagnosis and treatment.

Densitometry (bone density measurement): Used in the diagnosis of bone resorption diseases such as osteoporosis. It is an important tool for assessing bone health, especially in elderly patients.

3D motion analysis and gait analysis: It is a specialized method used for movement disorders, postural problems, and performance evaluation in athletes. Patients’ movement mechanisms are analyzed in detail.

Laboratory Tests: Blood tests are used to help diagnose rheumatic diseases and infections. Infections and inflammatory conditions are mainly detected by analyzing joint fluid.

Thanks to these advanced diagnostic methods, patients at Acibadem Healthcare Group are diagnosed quickly and accurately and the treatment process is planned effectively.

Surgical Treatments and Advanced Treatment Methods Used at Acibadem

Acibadem Healthcare Group offers modern and effective surgical treatment methods in the field of orthopedics to help patients recover faster and improve their quality of life. Surgical procedures are performed with expert staff and advanced technology, often supported by minimally invasive methods and robotic surgical technologies.

Arthroscopic Surgery (Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Ankle and Wrist)

Acibadem Healthcare Group uses advanced arthroscopic surgery techniques to treat various problems in joints such as the shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, and wrist. Problems such as meniscus tears, labral repairs, cruciate ligament injuries, sports injuries, and removal of intra-articular debris are successfully treated with minimally invasive methods. Using a camera and surgical instruments inserted through small incisions during arthroscopy, tissue damage is minimized and the healing process is accelerated.

Degenerative joint diseases such as gonarthrosis (knee osteoarthritis) and coxarthrosis (hip osteoarthritis) are also treated with both surgical and non-surgical approaches. In advanced stages of these diseases, knee and hip replacements are used to restore joint function. Robotic technologies are used in prosthetic surgery to ensure the correct placement of the prosthesis and long-term success. In addition, revision surgeries for infection or mechanical problems with prostheses are performed by experienced teams.

Joint Dislocation Repair

Joint dislocations occur when the bones in a joint slip out of their normal position and are usually caused by trauma, falls, or accidents. Dislocations can cause pain, swelling, limited range of motion, and nerve damage. Treatment for a dislocated joint involves first putting the dislocated joint back into place (repositioning) and then surgically repairing any additional damage or tears in the joint.

Once the dislocation is in place, the treatment process continues with the stabilization of the joint. In some cases, especially with recurrent dislocations or very severe damage, surgery may be necessary. Surgical repair involves repairing ligaments, tendons, or other soft tissues to restore normal joint function. In addition, minimally invasive techniques and advanced procedures such as arthroscopy are used to speed the patient’s recovery and minimize postoperative pain.

Spine Surgery and Scoliosis Treatment

Acibadem Healthcare Group is a leader in the treatment of scoliosis and other spinal disorders by offering a wide range of treatments in the field of spine surgery. Many complex problems such as spinal deformities, spinal stenosis, spinal fractures, and tumors are treated within the scope of spine surgery. Multidisciplinary teams perform surgical procedures using the latest technology and methods to return patients to their daily lives as quickly as possible.

Scoliosis surgery is used primarily in cases of advanced scoliosis. Modern surgical techniques used to treat scoliosis improve patients’ quality of life by correcting spinal curvature. During surgery, neuromonitoring systems ensure nerve safety, while long-term stabilization is achieved with special implants. In addition, minimally invasive procedures and robotic surgery techniques speed up the postoperative recovery process.

Muscle and Tendon Repair after Tears and Fractures

Muscles and tendons are important structures that provide the body’s movement functions and can often tear due to overuse, trauma, sports injuries, or age-related weakness. Torn tendons and muscles are usually characterized by pain, swelling, limited range of motion, and decreased muscle strength.

Torn muscles and tendons can be repaired surgically. The use of minimally invasive surgical techniques and arthroscopic methods can speed healing and improve outcomes. Especially in tendon ruptures, microsurgical techniques are used to join the ends of the tendon so that the tendon can regain its function. Acibadem optimizes the treatment process for patients by using globally accepted techniques and the latest innovative methods in muscle and tendon repair.

In addition, physiotherapy, muscle-strengthening exercises, and rehabilitation programs are of great importance in the treatment process of patients after ruptures.

Management of All Fractures and Dislocations in the Poly-trauma Patient

Polytrauma describes a combination of injuries to more than one body part and is usually caused by trauma such as car accidents, falls from heights, or serious sports injuries. The treatment process is complex and requires urgent intervention as these patients face multiple fractures, dislocations, and organ injuries.

The first goal in the management of polytrauma patients is to rapidly stabilize life-threatening conditions. Basic life support functions such as airway patency, breathing, and circulation are first addressed. Then the focus shifts to skeletal injuries such as fractures and dislocations. Acibadem performs all these stages with modern surgical techniques and uses a multidisciplinary approach to speed up the patient’s healing process.

Fractures are appropriately repositioned (repositioning), fixed (replacement), and, if necessary, surgically repaired. Acibadem’s expert orthopedic surgeons use methods such as platinum and screw placement for exposed fractures, allowing patients to be mobilized quickly. Dislocations are surgically replaced and stabilized. The treatment process for polytrauma patients also requires continuous monitoring during the recovery and rehabilitation phases. Patients make a full recovery with physical therapy, muscle strengthening, and functional recovery programs.

Orthopedic Deformity Repair

Orthopedic deformities refer to deformities or loss of function in bone and joint structures and are usually congenital, caused by trauma or disease. Such deformities can cause significant aesthetic and functional problems, so the treatment process must be carefully managed.

Surgical and non-surgical methods are used in this treatment process depending on the type of deformity. Acibadem uses modern surgical techniques, especially in the repair of conditions such as limb deformities (e.g. knee and hip deformities), post-traumatic deformities, and congenital deformities. Orthopedic deformity repair typically involves a variety of surgical procedures to correct the deformity. These procedures include osteotomy (bone correction), arthroplasty (joint replacement), and, in some cases, muscle, tendon, and ligament repair. Using minimally invasive techniques and advanced technology, surgeons are reducing patient recovery time and improving quality of life.

Bone Lengthening Surgery

Acibadem Healthcare Group offers modern and effective methods in bone lengthening surgeries to treat both congenital and acquired bone deformities. Bone lengthening procedures are usually performed using external fixation devices. These devices allow for controlled bone lengthening and correction of deformities. These procedures, especially with advanced systems such as the Ilizarov and Hexapod, are designed to improve patient functionality and quality of life.

In addition, the treatment of non-union and infected fractures is an important part of this field. Surgery for these problems involves the removal of infected tissue and the use of biological materials or advanced surgical techniques to accelerate the healing process.

Treatment of Pediatric Orthopedic Diseases

Acibadem Healthcare Group offers a multidisciplinary approach specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hip disorders and other orthopedic problems. Modern methods are used in the surgical and conservative treatment of congenital and developmental disorders such as congenital hip dislocation, aseptic necrosis, pes equinovarus, and fibular hemimelia. All pediatric orthopedic problems such as Perthes disease, infectious bone problems, soft tissue disorders, limps, and leg length discrepancies are comprehensively addressed. Neuromuscular problems such as cerebral palsy, myelodysplasia, obstetric plexus injuries, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease are successfully treated with both surgical intervention and rehabilitation programs. Individualized treatment plans are developed based on the child’s growth potential, and families are informed and supported at every stage of the treatment process. These comprehensive services are designed to increase children’s mobility and improve their quality of life.

Total Knee Replacement Surgeries

These are advanced procedures designed to relieve pain and restore function in patients with severe knee arthritis or joint damage. The procedure involves replacing the damaged knee joint with a prosthetic implant, to reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance the patient’s quality of life. Acibadem uses robotic-assisted techniques, such as MAKO™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery, to ensure precise alignment and implant positioning. These techniques allow for minimally invasive approaches that reduce recovery time and minimize tissue damage, resulting in faster rehabilitation. The hospital’s orthopedic specialists customize each patient’s surgical plan to ensure the best outcomes based on their specific anatomy and health conditions. This personalized care and advanced technology contribute to better long-term results, fewer complications, and faster recovery times for knee replacement patients at Acibadem.

Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Acibadem Healthcare Group treats severe damage to the hip joint using modern methods and advanced technology in total hip replacement surgery. These surgeries are usually performed on joints that have lost their functionality due to degenerative joint disease, arthritis, joint damage after trauma, or hip fractures. During surgery, damaged bone and cartilage structures are removed and replaced with artificial joints made of biocompatible materials.

Innovative technologies, such as robotic surgery, allow for high precision in prosthesis placement. This approach supports the longevity of the prosthesis and the patient’s rapid return to mobility. In addition, minimally invasive surgical techniques are used to reduce the risk of postoperative pain and complications and to accelerate the healing process.

Acibadem’s experienced orthopedic teams perform total hip replacement surgery with a patient-centered approach, creating individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. This comprehensive service is designed to help patients lead pain-free, active lives.

With its expert staff and technological infrastructure, the center is a reference point for patients from Turkey and abroad.

Ankle and foot disorders (hallux valgus deformity, etc.)

Foot and ankle deformities can develop as a result of both genetic and environmental factors. These diseases can manifest themselves with pain and loss of function, making daily life difficult. Acibadem aims to improve the quality of life of patients by using modern surgical and conservative methods in the treatment of these conditions.

Hallux valgus is one of the most common foot deformities. This condition occurs when the big toe slips abnormally sideways and often leads to pain, inflammation, and difficulty walking. At Acibadem, we offer conservative treatment options for hallux valgus in the first stage; however, minimally invasive methods and advanced techniques are used for cases that require surgical intervention. In surgical procedures, osteotomy (bone cutting) and fixation techniques can be used to correct the deformity.

Foot and ankle diseases can cause not only aesthetic but also functional problems. Acibadem is also known for its treatment of conditions such as ankle sprains, tendon injuries, and various musculoskeletal disorders. It also specializes in the treatment of pediatric foot disorders such as flat feet and clubfoot (pes equinus). Surgery for foot and ankle deformities is usually aimed at improving gait and relieving pain.

Treatments for hand disorders and hand surgery, including microsurgery

Acibadem Healthcare Group specializes in hand diseases and surgeries and offers advanced treatment methods in microsurgery. Since the hand is a complex organ that performs the functions of the upper extremities, any injury or disease can lead to serious loss of function. Acibadem offers its patients surgical treatment options that aim to achieve the best functional and aesthetic results.

Upper Extremity Surgery

Upper extremity surgeries include the treatment of injuries, diseases, or deformities in the region from the shoulder to the end of the arm and wrist. At Acibadem, we treat conditions such as fractures, dislocations, and tendon and ligament injuries with surgical procedures. Especially in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and finger injuries, surgeons use advanced surgical techniques to help patients regain functional independence and mobility.

Replant Surgery

Replantation surgery is the process of replacing a severed finger or hand. Acibadem successfully performs this treatment with surgeons experienced in limb replantation. Replantation aims to restore the body’s lost limbs and requires a multi-faceted treatment process. This process involves the successful repair of vascular, nerve, muscle, and bone structures using microsurgical techniques.

Free Tissue Transfer

Free tissue transfer is the process of moving tissue from one area to another in hand surgery. This procedure is typically used to repair areas where tissue loss has occurred due to injury. Acibadem offers its patients the best healing results with surgeons who specialize in free tissue transfer. Tissue transfer involves the transfer of structures such as skin, muscle, tendon, or bone tissue and helps patients regain the normal function of their hands.

Reconstructing Congenital Hand Deformities

Some children are born with congenital hand deformities. These conditions can be conditions such as lack of fingers, fusion of fingers, or abnormal development of fingers. Acibadem offers correction of these deformities with surgical intervention in the treatment of congenital hand deformities. Reconstructive surgery is usually performed to ensure that the child’s hand functions continue to develop normally. Microsurgical techniques are used to repair tissue and bone structures and create functional hand structures.
