Mert Şentürk

Prof. Mert Şentürk is a professor of Anesthesiology and Reanimation with a long-standing clinical, academic, and research career. He served on the faculty of Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine from 2009 to 2022 and joined Acibadem Health Group in 2022. His expertise focuses on thoracic and cardiothoracic anesthesia, perioperative respiratory care, and intensive care medicine. He has held several leadership and editorial roles, including editor of the Journal of the Turkish Anesthesia and Intensive Care Society (2016–2018) and president of the Chest Cardiovascular Anesthesia Intensive Care Association (GKDAYBD, 2014–2016). He has been active in national and international professional societies: corresponding member of the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (DGAI); member and chair roles within EACTAIC (European Association of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia) including Thoracic Anesthesia scientific committee and scientific committee membership (2016–2019); and service on the ESAIC respiratory subcommittee (2011–2015). He also contributed to the Milano SMART meeting scientific committee from 2017 onward and participated in TARD’s Thoracic Surgery Anesthesia Working Group. A dedicated clinical researcher, he has acted as Principal Investigator for the international PROTHOR study, and has served on steering committees and as national coordinator for multiple international trials. His work bridges clinical care, education, and research, advancing best practices in thoracic anesthesia and perioperative respiratory management.
