Acıbadem Pediatric Oncology team focuses on treating many childhood cancers, including leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, soft tissue and bone tumors, liver and germ cell-related cancers, histiocytosis, retinoblastoma, and Wilms tumor. Additionally, the team also treats hereditary diseases that predispose to cancer and benign tumors such as hemangioma and lymphangioma.

A swelling was detected in the palm of Dimana, who lives in Bulgaria, when she was only 6 months old. The swelling showed an increase over time and came to a point that disturbed Dimana. Dimana applied to a health institution and was diagnosed with “sarcoma” as a result of the tests performed there.
Despite the treatments applied to Dimana after she was diagnosed in her country, the swelling in her hand continued to grow. Dimana’s mother said they recognized growth of swelling on her daughter’s hand within minutes. Pediatric Oncology Specialist Çorapçıoğlu confirmed that growth of swelling can happen in a short time in infantile fibrosarcoma as cells can divide and multiply within minutes.
Dimana was evaluated by a team of experienced physicians in Acıbadem Healthcare Group. The tumor was shrunk with chemotherapy administered by a Pediatric Oncology Specialist. Thus, the tumor was prevented to cause damage to the hand and surgery could be performed. Later, the tumor tissue was operated by the team’s orthopedist specializing in cancer surgery. Tumor tissue was completely removed. Chemotherapy was continued after the operation. Dimana quickly recovered. Now, control examinations of Dimana continue as a follow-up.
