Prof. Cemal Üstün is a professor of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology with extensive clinical and academic experience in infection management and control. He completed his specialist training at Private Acıbadem Bakırköy Hospital in 2019 and has focused on infection prevention in high‑risk patient groups, including adult bone marrow transplant recipients during his tenure at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, Atakent Hospital (2016–2019). His work emphasizes antimicrobial stewardship, prevention and control of hospital‑acquired infections, and management of febrile neutropenia. He is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the Turkish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (KLIMIK), the Turkish Society for Hospital Infections and Control (THIKD), the Antimicrobial Chemotherapy Association (ANKEM), the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialty Society (EKMUD), the Viral Hepatitis Control Association (VHSD), the Febrile Neutropenia Society (FND), the Disinfection Antisepsis Sterilization Society (DAS), and the Turkish Hematology Association (THD). Caring, evidence‑based, and collaborative, he brings specialized expertise in preventing and managing infections in immunocompromised patients and in implementing hospital infection control programs.
