A significant part of Dr. Kavas’s practice concerns infections that are transmitted sexually or through blood, including syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis, and HIV and AIDS. Evaluation in these areas typically involves a careful history, laboratory testing and a discussion of treatment and follow-up options appropriate to the individual patient. She also sees adults with lower respiratory tract infections and with shingles, and provides assessment for other infectious disease concerns referred to the department.
