Prof. Dr. Erkin Sönmez

Prof. Dr. Erkin Sönmez is a neurosurgeon at Maslak Hospital, working in the Neurosurgery and Spine Health units. His clinical interests focus on spine health and spinal disorders, including lumbar hypolordosis, lumbar disc herniation, cervical disc herniation, and scoliosis. He is involved in the assessment and surgical management of conditions affecting the spine.

He graduated from Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and completed his neurosurgery training at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2010. His academic progression at Başkent University included appointments as Specialist Doctor, Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. He also completed clinical fellowships in spine surgery at Basel University Hospital in Switzerland in 2012 and at Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi-GSpine 4 in Milan, Italy in 2018.

Before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2026, Prof. Dr. Sönmez worked at Memorial Ankara Hospital, Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, and Başkent University Faculty of Medicine. International patients can expect care shaped by his long-standing academic and clinical experience in neurosurgery and spinal conditions. He is a member of AO Spine, Eurospine, the Turkish Spine Association, the Turkish Neurosurgical Society, and the Ankara Medical Chamber.
