Everything about your second opinion
What is a medical second opinion?+
An independent review of your diagnosis and treatment plan by specialists who were not involved in your original care. It either confirms that your current plan is right — or shows you options you have not been offered yet.
Is the second opinion really free?+
Yes. The review of your case and the written opinion are free of charge and come with no obligation. If you later choose to be treated at Acibadem, you receive a personalized treatment plan with a transparent cost estimate before any commitment.
How long does it take?+
Most written opinions are delivered within 5–7 working days once your documents are complete. Urgent cases can be prioritised — just mark the urgency in the form.
Which documents should I upload?+
Anything relevant: pathology and radiology reports, imaging (MRI, CT, PET), blood tests, discharge summaries and current medication lists. The more complete your file, the more precise the opinion.
Do I need to travel to Turkey for the opinion?+
No. The entire second-opinion process is remote: you upload your documents, our specialists review them, and you receive the written opinion wherever you are. Travel only becomes relevant if you decide to be treated here.
Which conditions and specialties can be reviewed?+
All major specialties — oncology, cardiology and heart surgery, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, general surgery, urology, gynecology, organ transplantation and more. When a case touches several disciplines, it is reviewed by a multidisciplinary board rather than a single doctor.
Who exactly reviews my case?+
Specialists who focus on your exact condition, drawn from Acibadem’s hospitals. Complex cases go to multidisciplinary boards, and every opinion is checked by a qualified physician before it reaches you.
What will the written opinion include?+
A clear assessment of your diagnosis, an evaluation of your current treatment plan and the options available to you — and, if treatment at Acibadem is appropriate, a personalized plan with a transparent cost estimate.
Is my medical data safe?+
Yes. All uploads are encrypted in transit, accessible only to the reviewing team, and handled in line with KVKK and GDPR. Your data is used solely for your review.
In which languages can I get support?+
Our international patient team supports you in more than 20 languages, helps you understand every part of the opinion, and answers your follow-up questions.
My reports are not in English — is that a problem?+
Share them as they are. Our team works with international medical documents every day, and if anything essential is missing or unclear, we will tell you exactly what is needed.
Can I request an opinion for a family member?+
Yes — many requests come from relatives. Select “a family member” in the form and share their documents with their knowledge and consent; the process works exactly the same way.
What if it differs from my current diagnosis?+
The opinion explains where the assessment differs and why, in language you can understand — giving you informed questions to discuss with your own doctor. The decision always remains yours.
Is the opinion a diagnosis or a prescription?+
No. It is an expert review based on the documents you provide, intended to inform your decisions. A definitive diagnosis and treatment always require an in-person medical evaluation.
How do I send large imaging files (MRI, CT)?+
Upload reports and images through the secure form — up to 8 MB per file. If your imaging files are larger, your patient coordinator will arrange a secure alternative transfer with you.
Can it be faster if my case is urgent?+
Yes. Mark your request as urgent in the form and our team will prioritize it — tell us your timeline and we will do our best to work within it.
Will you contact my current doctor or hospital?+
No. The review is based only on the documents you choose to share. Nobody is contacted, and you remain in full control of your information.
What happens after I receive my opinion?+
Your patient coordinator walks you through it and answers your questions. If you choose treatment at Acibadem, we plan everything with you; if not, the opinion is yours to keep — with no obligation either way.
Will asking for a second opinion offend my doctor?+
It should not — second opinions are standard practice in modern medicine, especially before major treatment, and good physicians welcome them. This review is confidential, so what you share is entirely your choice.
How do I start?+
Use the form at the top of this page — it takes about two minutes — or message us on WhatsApp or call +90 535 876 04 89. A patient coordinator confirms receipt and guides you from there.
