About this program
The classic women’s check-up is Acibadem’s foundation program for women: 38 tests and assessments in one organised visit at a JCI-accredited hospital in Istanbul, from $900.
The Classic Women’s Check-Up is the foundation of Acibadem’s women’s programs: the examinations and tests that a physician would want to see once a year in a healthy adult, organised into a single hospital visit. It combines an internal-medicine check-up, a cardiology examination and a gynaecology examination with an HPV co-test, chest and abdominal imaging, thyroid and breast ultrasound with digital mammography over 40, and a 26-test laboratory panel that covers blood count, sugar metabolism, cholesterol, liver, kidney and thyroid function, iron stores and hepatitis serology.
It is the right starting point if you have never had a structured check-up, if it has been more than a year or two since your last one, or if you want a clear baseline before deciding whether a more extensive program is worth it. Everything is performed at JCI-accredited Acibadem hospitals in Istanbul and explained to you by a physician the same day.
What the classic women’s check-up looks for
Every item has a purpose. This is what each part of the day is looking for, in the words we would use to explain it to you at the final review.
Specialist examinations
The check-up (internal medicine) examination opens and closes the day: history, physical examination and the final review of every result. The cardiology examination integrates the ECG, cardiac imaging and your risk factors into a personal cardiovascular risk assessment. The gynaecology examination with an HPV co-test screens for cervical pre-cancer and pelvic conditions; HPV testing identifies the virus behind most cervical cancers years before cell changes appear.
Imaging
A chest X-ray gives a baseline view of the lungs and the heart silhouette. Thyroid ultrasound looks for nodules and structural change, read together with the thyroid blood tests. A whole-abdomen ultrasound surveys the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and bladder for stones, cysts, fatty liver and masses. Digital mammography and breast ultrasound are complementary: mammography detects micro-calcifications and early tumours, ultrasound characterises dense breast tissue and lumps. Women over 40 have both, women under 40 breast ultrasound, each on the physician’s recommendation.
Heart
A resting ECG records heart rhythm and electrical conduction. The exercise stress test looks at the heart’s response to effort (a signal of reduced blood supply), while echocardiography images the chambers, valves and pumping function; the cardiologist decides which of the two is appropriate for you.
Laboratory panel (26 tests)
A complete blood count screens for anaemia, infection and abnormalities of the blood cells. Inflammation markers (high-sensitivity CRP) point to hidden inflammation; high-sensitivity CRP is also read as an additional cardiovascular risk marker. Sugar metabolism is assessed with fasting glucose and insulin, the basis for detecting pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes early. The lipid profile (total, LDL and HDL cholesterol and triglycerides) is the core of cardiovascular risk assessment. Liver enzymes (ALT, AST) look for fatty liver, medication effects or viral injury before any symptoms appear.
Kidney function (creatinine, blood urea nitrogen) with a complete urinalysis screens for early kidney disease and urinary infection; uric acid adds gout and metabolic risk. Thyroid function (TSH, free T4) detects an under- or over-active thyroid, which is common, often silent and usually straightforward to treat. Iron studies, folate and the minerals magnesium and calcium explain fatigue, anaemia and bone-health risks that are easy to correct once they are known. Viral serology (hepatitis B status and immunity, hepatitis C) identifies silent infections and shows whether vaccination is advisable. A stool occult-blood test is a first-line screen for bowel cancer and bleeding polyps.
Who should consider the classic women’s check-up
- Women aged 18 to 39 who want a complete annual or two-yearly baseline; from 40 the program is recommended yearly and automatically includes mammography alongside breast ultrasound.
- Women with a family history of heart disease, diabetes or thyroid disease who want the relevant risk markers checked in one visit.
- International visitors combining a stay in Istanbul with a half-day preventive assessment.
As a general guide, a check-up every one to two years between 18 and 39 and yearly from 40; your physician may suggest a different interval based on your results and family history.
Every item of the classic women’s check-up is listed on this page, so you can see exactly what is covered before you book.
How it compares with the other programs
Compared with the Gold program, Classic keeps to the essentials: it has no dental, dermatology or eye examination, no bone density measurement and no HbA1c, vitamin or lipoprotein(a) tests. If those matter to you, the Gold Women’s Check-Up adds them for a modest step in price.

How long it takes
Plan for half a day to a full working day, typically four to six hours. A coordinator plans the sequence, laboratory first while you are fasting, then imaging and examinations, so that you move through the hospital without waiting, and stays reachable throughout the visit.
How to prepare
- Fasting. Do not eat for eight to ten hours before the appointment (an early start is planned so that blood is taken first). Plain water is usually allowed, confirm this with the team when your appointment is confirmed.
- Mammography. Avoid deodorant, talc or lotion on the breasts and underarms on the day. If your cycle is regular, the week after your period is the most comfortable time.
- Exercise stress test. Bring comfortable shoes and clothing in case the cardiologist chooses the treadmill test; avoid a heavy meal in the hours before.
- Gynaecology. Avoid vaginal medication, tampons and intercourse for 48 hours before the appointment, and try to book outside your period.
- Records and medicines. Bring previous reports, imaging and a complete list of your medicines. Take your usual medication unless the team tells you otherwise when confirming the appointment.
Results, report and follow-up
The large majority of laboratory results are ready the same day and are reviewed with you by the check-up physician before you leave; a written report in English follows, together with digital copies of your images and reports.
A few items take longer, pathology results (HPV or Pap test) usually follow within a few working days. They are sent to you in English, and if anything needs discussion the physician arranges a call or an online consultation.
If a result needs a closer look, the relevant specialist is in the same hospital: additional imaging, a biopsy or a consultation can usually be arranged within days, and you decide how to proceed with the full picture in hand. Nothing in a check-up replaces care for existing symptoms, if you have a specific complaint, tell the team so the right specialist sees you first.
If you are unsure whether the classic women’s check-up fits your situation, share your age and any known conditions with the team and a physician will advise which program suits you.
Price and what is included
Classic Women’s Check-Up Program starts from $900. This is a starting price for the complete program as listed on this page; the written quote you receive before travelling confirms the exact figure for your case, which can differ where an item depends on age or on the physician’s recommendation (for example mammography over 40, or a procedure that the physician decides is not needed).
Included: every examination, test and imaging study listed above, the physician review, the written report in English, hospital coordination and interpreter support. Not included: travel and accommodation, tests the physician recommends in addition to the program, and any treatment that follows from a finding, each is quoted separately before it is performed.

More questions about the classic women’s check-up
Is mammography included?
Yes for women over 40, alongside breast ultrasound. Under 40 the program includes breast ultrasound only; both are performed on the physician’s recommendation, and the price is confirmed accordingly in your written quote.
Can I add tests to the Classic program?
Yes. If the physician recommends an additional test on the day, for example a bone density measurement or a vitamin D level, it can be added and is itemised separately in your invoice.
How often should a healthy woman repeat this check-up?
As a general guide, every one to two years between 18 and 39 and yearly from 40. Your physician may suggest a different interval based on your results and family history.
This page describes the content of a preventive program and is not medical advice. Screening tests have limits: a normal result lowers, but does not remove, the possibility of disease, and some findings need further tests to clarify. Discuss your individual situation with a physician.
