Ahmet Emre Şan, MD

Ahmet Emre Şan, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Pediatrics unit. He then served as a Specialist in Child Health and Diseases at Adıyaman Kahta State Hospital (2020–2023), Adıyaman Training and Research Hospital (2023–2024) and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health Şereflikoçhisar State Hospital (2024), before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2026.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Şan’s work concerns well-child follow-up: scheduled visits at which growth, development and general health are reviewed in an age-appropriate way. He diagnoses and treats childhood infectious diseases, which account for many of the acute visits in a pediatric clinic, and he monitors children with nutritional disorders, following weight, feeding patterns and dietary intake over time. Constipation in children and infant colic are further areas of expertise; both are common concerns for families, and assessment typically involves a careful history, an examination and, where appropriate, guidance on feeding and daily routine.

Dr. Şan also provides newborn follow-up. This includes newborn screening tests, the routine checks carried out in the first days and weeks of life, and the treatment of newborn jaundice, where the bilirubin level is monitored and treatment is planned according to the baby’s age and clinical findings. Families of newborns are guided through the early follow-up schedule and advised on when further review is needed.

How Dr. Şan works with international patients

Dr. Şan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of any existing results and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, for example for an initial review of records or for follow-up after a visit to İstanbul.
