Ali Uçar, MD

Ali Uçar, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa. From 1995 to 2010 he was at Bursa Vatan Hospital, where in addition to serving as Physician Responsible for the Emergency Department he held positions in the Chief Physician’s Office, as Responsible Manager and in General Management. In 2010 he became Physician Responsible for the Emergency Department at Konur Health Services, and in 2015 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He is a member of the Bursa Medical Chamber.

Clinical focus

Dr. Uçar’s first area of focus is emergency assessment: the initial evaluation of patients who arrive with acute symptoms, injuries or a sudden change in an existing condition. This involves taking a history where possible, examining the patient, identifying which problems require immediate attention and deciding which investigations are needed. Emergency assessment is a stepwise process, and the plan may change as findings become available.

His second area is urgent care management, meaning the treatment and stabilization of patients in the emergency setting and the decisions about whether a patient can be treated and discharged, should be observed or needs admission or referral to another specialty. The third area is emergency service coordination. Drawing on his years as Physician Responsible for the Emergency Department at several hospitals and his experience in hospital management, Dr. Uçar is involved in organizing how the emergency service functions, including how patients move through the department and how other departments are brought in when required. He does not treat a single organ system; his role is to identify what is wrong, begin appropriate care and direct the patient to the right further care.

How Dr. Uçar works with international patients

Dr. Uçar consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. For patients coming from abroad, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients and can be used to discuss existing reports before travel, although emergency conditions themselves require in-person care and cannot be managed remotely.
