Bilge Baş, DDS

Dr. Baş graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1979. From 1981 to 1991 she worked in Private Practice Dentistry, and in 1991 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services, where she has continued her clinical work since. She is a member of the Chamber of Dentists and the Esthetic Dentistry Academy Association, and she is also a member of Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Baş’s work involves the restoration of teeth affected by decay or damage. Dental fillings are used to restore the shape and function of a tooth after the affected tissue has been removed. The choice of approach depends on the location and extent of the damage, the condition of the surrounding teeth and the patient’s individual circumstances, all of which are assessed during a clinical examination.

Where a tooth cannot be preserved, Dr. Baş performs tooth extraction. Before an extraction is considered, the tooth and the surrounding tissue are examined, and any relevant imaging is reviewed so that the patient understands why the procedure is being proposed and what to expect afterward. She also carries out bad breath assessment. Bad breath can have a number of possible dental causes, and the assessment aims to identify factors in the mouth that may be contributing to the problem so that appropriate steps can be discussed with the patient.

How Dr. Baş works with international patients

Dr. Baş speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who need them. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as dental X-rays, previous treatment records and any relevant laboratory results, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous dental treatments, a clinical examination of the teeth and mouth and a discussion of the possible options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which can allow an initial discussion of the patient’s concerns and existing records before any travel is planned. Any decision about treatment is made only after a clinical examination and in consultation with the patient.
