Bilge Kayıran, MD

Bilge Kayıran, MD is a pediatrician at the Acibadem Bağdat Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul, where she works in the Pediatrics unit. Her practice covers newborns, infants, children, and adolescents, combining routine follow-up and preventive care with the diagnosis and treatment of common childhood health concerns. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2019 after many years in private pediatric practice.

Dr. Kayıran completed her secondary education at TED Ankara Koleji in 1977 and graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1983. She began her career at the İzmir-Alsancak SSK Central Dispensary (1983–1984) before joining the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Pediatrics as a research assistant (1984–1989), completing her specialty training in the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Child Health and Diseases in 1989. From 1989 to 1997 she served as medical director and specialist doctor at SEBA Children’s Hospital. In 1997 she founded MİNİMED Child Health and Diseases Center, where she worked as manager and specialist doctor until 2019.

Clinical focus

Dr. Kayıran’s clinical work centers on general pediatric care across childhood. This includes newborn follow-up, newborn screening tests, and well-child follow-up, in which growth, development, and general health are monitored at regular intervals. She also follows children with nutritional disorders and assesses feeding-related concerns, including infant lactose intolerance.

In addition, she diagnoses and treats childhood infectious diseases and upper respiratory tract illnesses in children, and she manages common functional problems such as childhood constipation and childhood urinary incontinence. Her broader interest in child and adolescent health means that older children and teenagers are also seen for routine assessment and for the evaluation of new symptoms. Where a child’s condition falls outside general pediatrics, the assessment helps determine whether referral to another pediatric subspecialty may be appropriate.

How Dr. Kayıran works with international patients

Dr. Kayıran consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging — for example ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results, growth records, vaccination records, and discharge summaries — and arranges appointments and the clinic visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing test results and any previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the possible options with the parents or caregivers. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used for an initial discussion or for follow-up after a visit, although a physical examination in the clinic is still needed for many pediatric assessments.
