Buket Arı, Audiologist

Buket Arı is an audiologist working within the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara, Turkey. Her work is focused on the assessment of hearing and balance in patients who are referred for evaluation of their auditory or vestibular function. She has more than six years of experience in medicine and works alongside the ENT physicians of the unit, whose patients often require audiological testing as part of their diagnostic pathway.

She completed her education at İstanbul Gelişim University, graduating in 2020. Her professional career began at Özel Koru Hospital, where she worked from 2021 to 2022. In 2022 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services, and she has continued her clinical work in audiology there since. She speaks Turkish and English.

Clinical focus

Hearing assessment forms a central part of her practice. Patients may be referred because they or their families have noticed difficulty hearing, because a hearing problem is suspected in connection with an ear condition, or because a physician wishes to document hearing function before or after treatment. The assessment aims to establish whether a hearing loss is present and, where it is, to describe its nature and degree so that the treating physician can consider appropriate next steps. Findings are documented and shared with the referring physician; the audiologist does not make treatment decisions in isolation, and any recommendations depend on the overall clinical picture.

Balance assessment is the second area of her work. Dizziness, unsteadiness and vertigo can have many possible causes, some of which are related to the inner ear. Assessment of balance function is intended to help the ENT team understand whether the vestibular system may be contributing to a patient’s symptoms. As with hearing assessment, the results are one component of a broader evaluation, and further investigation or referral to other specialists may be needed depending on what is found.

How Buket Arı works with international patients

Buket Arı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI or CT reports, previous hearing or balance test results, laboratory findings, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges the appointment and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be useful for an initial discussion or to review findings before deciding whether to travel.
