Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Köz

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Köz is a cardiologist at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara, where he works in the Cardiology Department with a subspecialty focus on cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. He has more than 33 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022. His clinical work covers heart rhythm disorders, blood pressure conditions, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease and rehabilitation after cardiac and pulmonary illness.

Dr. Köz graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1993. He began his career as a general practitioner at Erzincan Devlet Hospital (1993–1996), Gülhane Military Medical Academy in Ankara (1996–1997), 5th Main Jet Base Command in Merzifon (1997–1998) and 11th Air Transport Base Command in Etimesgut, Ankara (1998–1999). From 1999 to 2003 he completed his medical specialty training at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, consisting of one year of internal medicine and three years of cardiology, and qualified in cardiology in 2003. He then worked at Gülhane Military Medical Academy as a cardiology specialist (2003–2010) and as an associate professor (2010–2012), leaving military service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Between 2012 and 2019 he was an associate professor at the Cardiology Clinic of Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine Yenimahalle Training and Research Hospital, followed by the Department of Cardiology at Private Koru Hospital (2019–2020) and private practice (2020). He is a member of the Türk Tabipleri Association, the European Cardiology Association and the Turkish Cardiology Association. His published work includes studies on cardiac autonomic function, cardiovascular risk management in hypertensive patients, rheumatic heart disease, aortic elasticity in hypertension and coronary lesion distribution in young adults.

Clinical focus

Dr. Köz evaluates and treats a range of cardiovascular conditions. In the area of heart rhythm, he manages arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. He also assesses patients with heart murmurs, heart valve disease and rheumatic heart disease, as well as myocarditis. Blood pressure disorders form another part of his practice, including hypertension and hypotension.

His work in ischemic heart disease covers atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and angina and myocardial infarction. In addition, Dr. Köz provides cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, a structured program that may be considered for patients recovering from cardiac or pulmonary conditions.
