Çiğdem Kurt Yavrucu, MD

Çiğdem Kurt Yavrucu, MD is a pediatrician in the Pediatrics unit at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she provides care for infants and children. She has more than 29 years in medicine and is a member of the Türk Pediatri Association and the Turkish Medical Association.

Dr. Yavrucu graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1997. Between 1998 and 2000 she undertook specialty training at Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital / Neurosurgery. From 2001 to 2007 she worked at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, completing her training in the Department of Child Health and Diseases there in 2007; in 2003 she also worked in the İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine / Hematology-Oncology Department. From 2007 to 2008 she practised at Şırnak Devlet Hospital, and she has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2009.

Clinical focus

Dr. Yavrucu’s clinical work covers a range of conditions that commonly bring infants and young children to a pediatrician. In the first months of life these include lactose intolerance in infants, infant colic and gas pain, which are assessed through the child’s history, feeding pattern and a clinical examination. She also sees children with constipation and with iron deficiency and anemia, where evaluation typically draws on the history, diet and laboratory findings before a management plan is discussed with the family.

Her practice further includes urinary and kidney-related complaints in childhood, such as hematuria and urinary incontinence in children, as well as upper respiratory tract illnesses, which are among the most frequent reasons for pediatric visits. Dr. Yavrucu also evaluates children with infectious and inflammatory conditions, including measles and Kawasaki disease. Because the presentation of these conditions can vary with age, the approach is individualized, and the need for further tests or referral is decided case by case after the initial assessment.

How Dr. Yavrucu works with international patients

Dr. Yavrucu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages.
