Prof. Demet Etit, MD

Prof. Demet Etit, MD is a pathology specialist at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she works within the Pathology Department. In practice this involves assessing the structure and cellular features of a sample, correlating these findings with the clinical information provided by the referring physician and communicating the results in a written report. Pathologists usually work alongside surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and other specialists rather than seeing patients directly, and the interpretation of a specimen is generally considered together with the patient’s history, imaging and other laboratory results. A second review of existing pathology material may also be requested when a diagnosis needs to be confirmed or reconsidered before treatment decisions are made.

Dr. Etit speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who prefer another language.
