Dr. Ebru Erdoğan

Dr. Ebru Erdoğan is a hematology specialist in the Hematology Department at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul. With more than 30 years in medicine, she evaluates and treats adults with both benign blood disorders and hematologic cancers. Her areas of expertise include several forms of anemia, acute and chronic leukemias, and multiple myeloma.

Dr. Erdoğan graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1996. She completed her Internal Medicine training at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and her Hematology training at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2008. Her professional experience includes positions at İstanbul Göztepe Training and Research Hospital (2009–2011), Başkent University İstanbul Practice and Research Hospital (2011–2012), and Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine (2012). She has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2015. She is a member of the Turkish Hematology Association, the Turkish Internal Medicine Specialty Association, and the European Hematology Association.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Erdoğan’s practice concerns anemia in its different forms, including iron deficiency anemia, pernicious anemia, and sickle cell anemia. Because the appropriate approach depends on the type of anemia and its underlying cause, evaluation typically begins with a careful review of the patient’s symptoms, laboratory results, and any previous treatments. Only after the cause has been clarified is a treatment plan discussed with the patient, together with any monitoring that may be needed over time.

Dr. Erdoğan also cares for patients with hematologic malignancies. Her expertise covers acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and chronic myeloid leukemia, as well as multiple myeloma. For patients with these diagnoses, she reviews existing pathology, laboratory, and imaging findings, explains the leukemia treatment or myeloma treatment options that may be relevant, and describes what each may involve. Decisions are reached together with the patient after considering the characteristics of the disease and the patient’s overall health, and the plan may be adjusted as the clinical picture evolves.

How Dr. Erdoğan works with international patients

Dr. Erdoğan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments, and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up after treatment. Patients are encouraged to have their blood test results, bone marrow or pathology reports, and any imaging available so that the discussion can be as complete as possible.
