Göksel Aksu, MD

Göksel Aksu, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than 25 years of experience in medicine, with a clinical background that covers hospital emergency departments, pre-hospital ambulance services, dialysis settings and workplace medicine.

Dr. Aksu graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. He began his career with Nevşehir 112 emergency ambulance (2001–2002) before working in the Nevşehir State Hospital Emergency Department from 2002 to 2006. Between 2006 and 2007 he was at HEAŞ Sabiha Gökçen Havaalanı. From 2007 to 2013 he worked at Private Hisar Dialysis Center, and in 2012 he completed İşyeri Hekimligi. He subsequently worked in the Private Erdem Hospital Emergency Department (2013–2021) and at Özel Erdem Hospital Diyaliz (2013–2024). From 2022 to 2025 he practised in the Private Academic Hospital Emergency Department, and in 2024 he worked in the Başkent University Altunizade Emergency Department. In 2025 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

Clinical focus

Dr. Aksu’s clinical work is centred on emergency care and emergency assessment. In the emergency department, this involves the initial evaluation of patients who present with acute symptoms or injuries, establishing priorities for care, and arranging further investigation or referral to other specialties where this is indicated. His earlier work with ambulance emergency services gave him experience in the pre-hospital phase of care, including the assessment and stabilisation of patients before they reach the hospital.

Alongside emergency medicine, Dr. Aksu has worked for a number of years in dialysis care, first at Private Hisar Dialysis Center and later at Özel Erdem Hospital Diyaliz. He also has experience in workplace medicine, which is concerned with the health of employees in relation to their working environment. This combination of settings means that his practice draws on both acute hospital-based care and longer-term outpatient care.

How Dr. Aksu works with international patients

Dr. Aksu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling or to follow up after a visit.
