Mehmet Demir, MD

Mehmet Demir, MD is an Inpatient Clinic Physician at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than seven years of experience in medicine, much of it gained in emergency departments and in the prehospital setting.

Dr. Demir graduated from İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 2019. From 2019 to 2023 he served as Emergency Department Supervisor at Göksun State Hospital, and in 2023 he worked as an Emergency Department Physician at İstanbul Başakşehir State Hospital. In 2024 he joined Acibadem Healthcare Services, and from 2024 to 2026 he worked as an ambulance physician with Acıbadem Mobil. He now works within the inpatient clinic of the hospital, where he contributes to the multidisciplinary care pathways available there.

Clinical focus

Dr. Demir’s clinical focus is on patients who are admitted to hospital and need continuous medical oversight during their stay. In inpatient care, this includes following the patient’s clinical course, reviewing findings and test results, and helping to ensure that the treatment plan agreed with the responsible specialist teams is carried out consistently. Hospital care coordination forms a further part of his work: he supports communication between the different departments involved in a patient’s care so that assessments, treatments and follow-up steps are aligned during the admission.

His background in emergency medicine and emergency assessment informs how he evaluates patients whose condition changes or who present with acute symptoms. This includes the initial clinical evaluation, recognition of situations that require urgent attention and timely involvement of the appropriate specialists. Through his experience in ambulance medicine, Dr. Demir is also familiar with the assessment and stabilization of patients before and during transfer to hospital, and with the handover of clinical information between prehospital and hospital teams. In every case, the scope and sequence of care depend on the individual patient’s condition and are determined together with the treating specialists.

How Dr. Demir works with international patients

Dr. Demir speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. For international patients, a video consultation can be arranged, which may be used to review the case and discuss the next steps before travel. Throughout an inpatient stay, Dr. Demir aims to provide clear communication about the patient’s condition and the planned course of care.
