Mehtap Feyza Gökalp is a pedagogy specialist with a subspecialty in psychology. She sees patients at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital and Acibadem Bağdat Outpatient Clinic, both located in İstanbul. She completed her training in Clinical Psychology at Üsküdar University in 2023 and is currently enrolled in the Üsküdar University Psychology PhD Program, which is ongoing. The purpose of the initial evaluation is to clarify the nature of the difficulty and to consider which forms of psychological support, if any, may be appropriate. For patients traveling from abroad, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports before the visit, such as earlier assessment reports, previous treatment records and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current concerns, a review of any previous evaluations and treatments, a clinical assessment and a discussion of the possible options. Interpreters can be arranged when needed, so that the consultation can take place in a language the patient and family are comfortable with.
