Meysenaz Koser, Psychologist

Meysenaz Koser is a psychologist with more than 10 years in the field. She practices within the Psychiatry & Psychology unit at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, Türkiye. Her work centers on psychological assessment of children and adults using standardized and projective tests, together with therapeutic approaches that include play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and schema therapy.

Meysenaz Koser graduated from Demiroglu Bilim University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences – Psychology in 2014. In 2018 she was at Istanbul Bilim University Arts and Sciences and at Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Social Sciences – Clinical Psychology. In 2019 she completed Schema Therapy Training with a Practitioner Certificate at 5N1K Psycho Academy. In 2021 she undertook a series of assessment trainings at ARES Psychological Counseling and Training Center, covering the Thematic Perception Test for Children (CAT), the Ankara Developmental Inventory Test (AGTE), the Thematic Perception Test (TAT) and the Bender-Gestalt Test, as well as the Metropolitan School Readiness Test at ARES Psychological Counseling and Education Center. In the same year she completed Play Therapy Training and training in objective tests with Uzm. Clinical Psychologist Tamer Karaokçu, Basic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Training with Dr. Cem Keçe, training in the Psycho – Pedagogical Analysis of Child Drawings and Projective Drawing Tests with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakan Durmaz, and training in the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory Test (MMPI). Her earlier professional development included the Life Skills Development Psycho-Life Seminar Program at Humanite Psychiatric Medical Center in 2015 and the Sexual Abuse and Children Seminar at Mental Istanbul Psychological Counseling Center in 2016. She worked as an Intern Psychologist at Boğaziçi Alumni Association Curious Children Levent Kindergarten (BÜMED MEC) from 2016 to 2017, at 5N1K Psycho Academy from 2019 to 2020 and at Bakirkoy Psychiatric Hospital from 2020 to 2021, before joining Acibadem Health Group in 2021.

Clinical focus

A large part of Meysenaz Koser’s practice involves the assessment of children’s emotional and social functioning. She uses developmental and projective instruments such as the Children’s Apperception Test, the Thematic Apperception Test, the Ankara Developmental Inventory, the Bender-Gestalt Test, the Metropolitan School Readiness Test, projective drawing tests and the Beier Sentence Completion Test. Attention and performance-based measures in her repertoire include the D2 Attention Test and the Porteus Maze Test. For personality assessment she works with the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory.

On the therapeutic side, she applies play therapy with children and uses cognitive behavioral therapy and schema therapy. The choice of assessment tools and therapeutic approach is made according to the age of the person being seen and the concerns raised, and findings are discussed with the patient or family in the context of a broader clinical picture.

How Meysenaz Koser works with international patients

Meysenaz Koser consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and any previous assessments, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s or child’s history and current concerns, a review of existing reports and previous treatments, a clinical assessment and a discussion of the possible next steps. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to speak with her before traveling.
