Prof. Nail Suat Ünver, MD

Prof. Nail Suat Ünver, MD is an Internal Medicine specialist with training in Nephrology who practices at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. He completed Internal Medicine training at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 1998, worked as an Internal Medicine Specialist in Foça/İzmir from 1998 to 2000, and completed Nephrology training at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 2002, the same year he was at the Marmara University Department of Nephrology. From 2002 to 2007 he was a Nephrology Specialist at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, and he became an Associate Professor at GATA Faculty of Medicine in 2007. After a year at the Girne Military Hospital Chief Physician’s Office, he worked in the GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital Nephrology Clinic from 2008 to 2011 and then in the ÇAPA Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nephrology, Transplantation Unit in 2011. Between 2011 and 2021 he practiced at Central Hospital, Erdem Hospital and Medicana Health Group, receiving the title of Professor at İstanbul Aydın University in 2015. He was with Liv Hospital Health Group from 2021 to 2022 and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022. His published work includes studies on hemodialysis, hypervolemia and ultrafiltration, glomerular disease and renal amyloidosis in journals such as Renal Failure, Clinical Nephrology and Clinical Kidney Journal.

Clinical focus

Dr. Ünver evaluates and follows patients with kidney diseases and kidney failure, including patients who require haemodialysis. He assesses findings that may point to a kidney problem, such as proteinuria, haematuria and oedema, and interprets them together with the patient’s history and laboratory results. A particular area of his work is diabetic nephropathy, where kidney function is monitored in patients living with diabetes.

As an internal medicine physician, he also manages conditions that frequently accompany or contribute to kidney disease, including hypertension, anaemia and obesity. Patients with chronic kidney conditions are followed over time, with treatment adjusted according to laboratory findings and clinical course.
