For patients from abroad, this may include an explanation of how the emergency visit relates to any previous treatment they have received at home, so that the information can be shared with their own physicians afterwards.

How Dr. Al works with international patients

Dr. Al speaks Turkish and English, so patients traveling from abroad can be understood in either language, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging — for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries — arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. Existing records help Dr. Al place a current complaint in context, particularly where a patient has an ongoing condition or has recently undergone treatment. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which allows a patient to speak with Dr. Al before traveling.
