For international patients, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options; for pathology-focused questions, this often includes a review of existing pathology reports and, where appropriate, of the original slides or tissue blocks if they can be made available. Interpreters can be arranged when needed. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be a practical way to discuss existing findings before or instead of travel, depending on the individual situation. Findings from pathological assessment are used to help guide discussions with the relevant clinical teams responsible for the patient’s treatment.
