Prof. Dr. Orhan Çınar

Prof. Dr. Orhan Çınar is an emergency medicine specialist who works in the Emergency Service of Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara. His professional focus is the assessment and management of urgent medical conditions that require emergency care. He has more than 27 years of experience in medicine, combining clinical work in emergency departments with academic teaching and research, and he is a member of the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association.

Dr. Çınar graduated from the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine in 1999 and completed his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 2005. From 2010 to 2011 he took part in the Emergency Medicine Research Advanced Specialization Program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. He worked as an Emergency Medicine Specialist Doctor in the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Department of Emergency Medicine from 2005 to 2008 and at Mesa Hospital from 2006 to 2008. He then served in the same academic department as Assistant Associate Professor from 2008 to 2011 and as Associate Professor Doctor from 2013 to 2015. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2015.

Other publications address end-tidal carbon dioxide measurement in patients with acute dyspnea, biomarkers for the diagnosis and risk stratification of dyspneic emergency department patients, high-flow oxygen therapy in headache, a comparison of airway devices for endotracheal intubation, and communication skills training for emergency medicine residents.

How Dr. Çınar works with international patients

Dr. Çınar speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options.
