Oya Duran, MD

How Dr. Duran works with international patients

Dr. Duran consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example laboratory and pathology results, X-ray or ultrasound reports, previous prescriptions, discharge summaries and any operative notes, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation with Dr. Duran typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the child and a discussion of the possible options with the parents or guardians. Where appropriate, further tests may be recommended before a plan is agreed. A video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their child’s condition or review existing results with Dr. Duran before deciding whether to travel, or for follow-up after a visit. The information gathered in a video consultation is treated as a preliminary review, and a full assessment may still require an in-person examination.
