Assoc. Prof. Rıza Gürhan Işıl, MD

Assoc. Prof. Rıza Gürhan Işıl, MD is a General Surgery specialist at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. He completed his General Surgery residency at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital (2009–2014) and then worked as a General Surgery specialist at Okmeydani Training and Research Hospital (2014–2020). Between 2020 and 2022 he provided online consulting services (telemedicine) for Marm Assistance and Mapfre Insurance. He received his Associate Professorship in General Surgery in 2021, worked at Sporthopaedicum in Straubing, Germany (2023–2024), and obtained diploma equivalency from the Federal Republic of Germany in 2024. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025.

Clinical focus

Dr. Işıl’s clinical work centers on hepatobiliary, pancreatic and digestive system surgery, including oncological surgery. He evaluates and treats pancreatic diseases, liver diseases such as fatty liver disease and liver failure, and biliary tract diseases. His surgical practice includes liver cancer, gallbladder and bile duct cancers, small intestine cancer, and cholecystitis. He also treats inguinal hernia. Where appropriate, robotic surgery is considered among the surgical options after individual assessment.

He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, preoperative endoscopy before bariatric surgery, inguinal hernia repair techniques and their effects on quality of life, the management of inguinal hernia in high-risk geriatric patients, acute cholecystitis, gastric cancer prognosis and recurrent pilonidal disease, published in journals such as Obesity Surgery, Surgical Endoscopy, Turkish Journal of Surgery and Annali Italiani di Chirurgia.

Dr. Işıl consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
