Dr. Kartı graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He worked as a research assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine from 1992 to 1994 and at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine from 1994 to 1998, completing his internal medicine training in 1998. He then continued as a research assistant in the Division of Hematology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine from 1998 to 2000, completing hematology in 2000. Between 2000 and 2004 he was a faculty member in the Division of Hematology at KTÜ Faculty of Medicine, first as assistant associate professor and, in 2004, as associate professor. From 2004 to 2008 he worked in the Hematology Clinic of Denizli State Hospital, and from 2008 to 2013 he was professor in the Division of Hematology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2013. He is a member of The European Group for Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation and the Turkish Hematology Association, and he has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics including chronic myeloid leukemia, polycythemia vera, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever and the development of dendritic cells from CD34+ bone marrow cells.
Clinical focus
Dr. Kartı evaluates and treats adults with malignant blood disorders, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia and multiple myeloma. Within the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit – Adult, he assesses patients for bone marrow transplantation and manages other bone marrow diseases. Whether transplantation is an option depends on the individual diagnosis, disease stage and general health, and is discussed after a full review of the patient’s records.
His practice also covers non-malignant hematology. This includes anemia, among them iron deficiency anemia, as well as immune thrombocytopenia and the bleeding disorder Von Willebrand disease. Care for these conditions is provided within a multidisciplinary hospital setting.
