Sait İlker Uslu, MD

Sait İlker Uslu, MD is a pediatrician in the Pediatrics unit at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. His clinical work covers general pediatrics and newborn care, including healthy child follow-up, newborn follow-up and screening tests, neonatal jaundice, childhood infectious diseases, iron deficiency and anemia in children, and common early-childhood concerns such as infant colic and upper respiratory tract illnesses. Dr. Uslu graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2008. He completed his specialty training in child health and diseases at Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital in 2015, having worked there as a research assistant from 2011 to 2015. He then served as a specialist physician in child health and diseases at Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health Reyhanlı State Hospital from 2015 to 2016. Between 2016 and 2020 he trained in neonatology at Ondokuz Mayıs University as a research assistant, completing this training in 2020. From 2020 onward he worked as a specialist physician in neonatology at public, university and private hospitals in İstanbul, including İstinye University Hospital Liv Hospital Bahçeşehir from 2022 to 2023, and he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Uslu’s practice is the care of newborns and infants. This includes newborn follow-up in the first weeks of life, newborn screening tests, and the assessment and treatment of neonatal jaundice. He also sees infants with colic and evaluates babies with suspected lactose intolerance, where feeding history and symptom patterns guide the assessment and any adjustments to feeding.

In older children, Dr. Uslu diagnoses and treats childhood infectious diseases and upper respiratory tract illnesses, and he evaluates children with iron deficiency and anemia, including laboratory assessment and treatment planning. He also has clinical experience with Kawasaki disease, a condition in which timely recognition and follow-up are important. Healthy child follow-up, with age-appropriate growth and developmental assessment, forms the routine basis of his pediatric practice.

How Dr. Uslu works with international patients

Dr. Uslu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory results, ultrasound or X-ray reports, discharge summaries and previous treatment records, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options with the family. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their child’s case before or after travelling.
