Semra Mehmetoğlu, MD

Semra Mehmetoğlu, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Bağdat Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul, where she works in the Pediatrics unit caring for newborns, infants, children and adolescents. She has more than 43 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Mehmetoğlu graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1983 and completed her specialty training at the İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Department of Child Health and Diseases in 1988. From 1992 to 2003 she worked at the Türk Telekom General Directorate Polyclinic, where she was the physician in charge of the Pediatric Polyclinic. Between 1998 and 2003 she also served as institutional physician at the Foundation for the Protection and Education of Mentally Disabled Children. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2003. She is a member of Zihinsel Özürlü Çocuklar Vakfı (TETREM).

Dr. Mehmetoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports, such as laboratory results, growth and vaccination records, imaging reports and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the visit to the clinic. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing reports and any previous treatments, a clinical examination of the child and a discussion of the possible next steps with the family. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used for an initial discussion or for follow-up after a visit, depending on the child’s situation.
