Sibel Özbek, MD

Sibel Özbek, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Pediatrics unit. Dr. Özbek graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. From 1991 to 2010 she worked at SSK Bakırköy Maternity Hospital, where she served as Deputy Clinical Chief, and between 1992 and 2010 she also saw patients in private practice. From 2011 to 2013 she worked at Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital, and in 2013 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. She is a member of the İstanbul Medical Chamber, Türk Pediatri Kurumu, Türk Neonatoloji Association, and the Mother and Baby Health Foundation. Dr. Özbek has co-authored publications on neonatal topics, including pneumothorax in the neonatal intensive care unit, bronchopulmonary dysplasia in very low birth weight preterm infants, intraventricular hemorrhage in preterm newborns, measles antibodies and vaccination response in preterm infants, rehospitalization of neonates discharged early, and newborn screening for biotinidase enzyme deficiency.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özbek’s practice centers on child and adolescent health from the newborn period onward. She provides newborn follow-up and well-child follow-up, which includes monitoring of growth and development and pediatric nutrition monitoring. She evaluates and treats growth disorders in children and iron deficiency and anemia in children, and she sees infants with colic and newborns with neonatal jaundice.

She also diagnoses and treats childhood infectious diseases, including upper respiratory tract illnesses in children. Care is planned according to the child’s age, symptoms, and overall health, and follow-up is arranged as needed to monitor the response to treatment.

How Dr. Özbek works with international patients

Dr. Özbek consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages.
