Suna Tuzcu, MD is a Family Medicine physician at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul. With more than 44 years in medicine, her practice centers on comprehensive primary care and on supporting patients with their general health needs, from the assessment of acute complaints to the long-term follow-up of chronic conditions.

Dr. Tuzcu graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1982 and completed her Family Medicine training at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital in 1990. Her early career, from 1982 to 1986, was spent at Etimesgut Regional Training and Research Hospital and Central Health Center. From 1990 to 2004 she worked at Kanlıca Mother and Child Health and Family Planning Training Center, a period that shaped her interest in family planning counseling and health education. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2005 and has provided family medicine care there since. Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Tuzcu has contributed to Turkish-language medical literature by translating a number of reference texts from English into Turkish, including the Oxford Handbook Of Clinical Medicine, the Oxford Handbook Clinical Specialities, the PRN Journal of Family Medicine medical journals and the second, third and fourth editions of Nelson Essentials Of Pediatrics. Her publication record also includes CML Rheumatology.

Dr. Tuzcu’s work covers the core areas of family medicine. In primary care, she acts as a first point of contact for patients with a wide range of health concerns, offering general health assessment and coordinating further evaluation where it is needed. Her preventive medicine practice includes routine health checks and guidance on measures that may help reduce the risk of illness, while health education forms an ongoing part of her consultations, helping patients understand their condition and the reasoning behind any recommendations.

She also manages acute illness, assessing new symptoms and deciding on appropriate care, and provides chronic disease management for patients who require regular monitoring and adjustment of treatment over time. Drawing on her years at Kanlıca Mother and Child Health and Family Planning Training Center, Dr. Tuzcu offers family planning counseling, discussing the available options with patients so that decisions can be made on the basis of individual circumstances and medical history.

How Dr. Tuzcu works with international patients

Dr. Tuzcu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit itself. A first consultation with Dr. Tuzcu typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options that may be appropriate. For international patients who are not able to travel immediately, or who wish to discuss their situation in advance, video consultation is available.
