Volkan Fürüzan, MD

Volkan Fürüzan, MD is an Emergency Medicine specialist who practices at the Acibadem Göktürk Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul. He has more than 30 years in medicine. Kennedy (JFK) Hospital (2003). From 2003 to 2009 he was Emergency Department Manager at Florence Nightingale Hospital, and in 2009 he also worked at Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Hospital. He subsequently served as Emergency Department Responsible Physician and Deputy Responsible Manager at Memorial Ataşehir Hospital (2009–2010), as Head of the Emergency Department at İçerenköy Bayındır Hospital (2010), and at İstanbul International Hospital (2011). Between 2011 and 2013 he was Provision Department Manager at Ergo Sigorta A.Ş. General Directorate, followed by a position as institutional physician at Darüşşafaka Yakacık Rezidansı (2013–2014). He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2015. His teaching experience also includes a role as lecturer in the paramedic training program at Bilim University Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu (2008–2009), and he worked in medical English translation between 2003 and 2007. He is a member of the Emergency Medicine Association, the İstanbul Preventive Cardiology Association, The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), the Turkish Medical Association, and the Society for Academik Emergency Medicine (SAEM).

Clinical focus

Dr. Fürüzan's clinical interests include the assessment and management of bee stings and tick bites. His approach follows emergency-care principles, with an emphasis on timely evaluation and appropriate treatment. In these situations, the evaluation generally begins with the patient's account of the event and any symptoms that have developed, followed by a clinical examination. Treatment decisions are made on the basis of the individual findings, and the course of care depends on how the patient presents and responds.

How Dr. Fürüzan works with international patients

Dr. Fürüzan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
