Emin Yıldırım, MD

Emin Yıldırım, MD is a physician in the Emergency Service at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Yıldırım’s work centers on emergency medicine, which involves the assessment and initial management of patients who present with acute symptoms. This includes taking a focused history, performing a clinical examination, requesting and interpreting the tests appropriate to the presentation, and deciding whether a patient can be treated and discharged, needs a period of observation, or should be referred to a specialist department for further care. His experience in acute internal medicine relates to adults with sudden or worsening medical conditions that require prompt evaluation in a hospital setting.

A second strand of his experience is acute geriatrics and geriatric medicine, which concern the care of older adults. These patients often have several coexisting conditions and may present in the emergency setting with less typical symptoms, so careful assessment is important. His earlier work in geriatrics and rehabilitation also gave him experience with the recovery phase after an acute illness, during which patients work to regain function and independence. In the Emergency Service, this background supports the evaluation of older patients and the planning of their onward care, whether that involves admission, follow-up with another department, or discharge home.

How Dr. Yıldırım works with international patients

Dr. Yıldırım speaks Turkish and English. For international patients, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak a language other than Turkish or English. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up after a visit.
