A.Sercan Soyarslan is a physiotherapist in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation unit at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in Istanbul. His subspecialty area is movement disorders treatment, and his day-to-day work centers on rehabilitation for spinal conditions, shoulder and knee problems, fibromyalgia, sports injuries and Parkinson’s disease. Clinical focus

A.Sercan Soyarslan works with patients who have spinal complaints, including lumbar disc herniation, cervical disc herniation, facet joint syndrome and postural alignment concerns such as reduced lumbar lordosis and reduced cervical lordosis. He also assesses and treats frozen shoulder syndrome, knee injuries and sports injuries, and provides rehabilitation support for people living with fibromyalgia. Rehabilitation programs are planned around each patient’s functional goals and current level of pain and mobility.

A further part of his practice is movement disorder treatment, including Parkinson’s rehabilitation. In this setting the aim is to support movement, balance and everyday function through structured physiotherapy, using approaches drawn from his training in manual mobilization, Kinesio Taping and clinical Pilates where they are appropriate for the individual. Treatment is adjusted as the patient’s condition and response to therapy change over time.

How A.Sercan Soyarslan works with international patients

A.Sercan Soyarslan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination focused on movement and pain, and a discussion of the rehabilitation options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up after treatment.
