Ahmet Kaya, MD

Ahmet Kaya, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than six years of experience in medicine, with a clinical background centered on emergency department practice, prehospital and mobile health services, and medical leadership roles. His areas of interest include emergency interventions, trauma care, and environmental emergencies, in particular drowning, acute hypoxia, and airway obstruction.

Dr. Kaya graduated from Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine in 2020. From 2020 to 2022 he worked as a General Practitioner in the Emergency Department of Göztepe Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital. Between 2022 and 2023 he served as Responsible Manager and Operations Manager at Acıbadem Mobile Health, and from 2023 to 2024 he was Responsible Physician at Alife Elderly Care Center. In 2024 he became Medical Director and Founding Partner of Private Celyxmed Polyclinic. In 2025 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services, where he currently practices in the Emergency Service.

Clinical focus

Dr. Kaya’s work is focused on the initial assessment and management of patients who present with acute conditions. This includes emergency interventions for a range of urgent medical problems and trauma care, where the priorities are timely evaluation, stabilization, and coordination with other specialties when further treatment is required. Emergency care is inherently time-sensitive, and the approach in each case depends on the patient’s presentation, vital signs, and clinical findings at the time of arrival.

A further area of interest is environmental emergencies. These include drowning and related incidents, acute hypoxia (an acute shortage of oxygen reaching the body’s tissues), and airway obstruction, in which the passage of air to the lungs is partly or completely blocked. In these situations, early recognition and securing adequate oxygenation and a clear airway are central to emergency management. Dr. Kaya’s experience in mobile health operations and in an elderly care setting complements his emergency department work, as both involve recognizing acute deterioration and organizing appropriate care.

How Dr. Kaya works with international patients

Dr. Kaya consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. For patients who are not in an acute emergency and wish to have their situation reviewed, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be suitable for an initial discussion or follow-up; emergency conditions themselves require in-person assessment. Patients presenting with an acute problem can expect an assessment focused on the immediate clinical issue and appropriate emergency management within the Emergency Service.
