Arif Ortakçı, MD

Arif Ortakçı, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Bodrum Outpatient Clinic in Muğla, where he works in the Radiology unit. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1977. Much of Dr. Ortakçı’s career has been spent in the Manisa region. From 1987 to 1999 he was a specialist physician at Manisa Akhisar State Hospital, and from 1987 to 2011 he owned and worked as a radiology specialist at Manisa Akhisar X-ray Laboratory. He was a partner of Manisa Akhisar Tomography Center between 1991 and 2000 and a founding partner and radiology specialist of Manisa Private Doğuş Hospital from 1993 to 2010. From 2011 to 2012 he served as radiology specialist and chief physician at Manisa Private Akhisar Hospital, followed by a position as radiology specialist at Manisa Private Salihli Hospital from 2012 to 2020. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023. He is a member of the Turkish Radiology Association and the Türk Manyetik Rezonans Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Ortakçı’s clinical work centers on diagnostic imaging. His areas of expertise include breast diseases and mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and ultrasonographic imaging. In breast imaging, mammography and ultrasonography are commonly used to evaluate symptoms and findings; the choice of examination depends on the individual clinical question and is decided together with the referring physician.

He also has expertise in virtual angiography, a method of visualizing blood vessels using cross-sectional imaging data rather than a catheter-based procedure. In all of these areas, the role of the radiologist is to perform or supervise the examination, interpret the images and provide a written report that supports further clinical decisions.

How Dr. Ortakçı works with international patients

Dr. Ortakçı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination where relevant and a discussion of the possible imaging options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used to review existing imaging and discuss whether further examinations are advisable.
