Ayça Kalkan, MD

Ayça Kalkan, MD is a pediatrics specialist at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Pediatrics unit. Dr. Kalkan also evaluates and treats the acute and chronic conditions most frequently seen in pediatric practice. These include acute respiratory infections and fever in children, where careful history taking and examination help determine whether the illness is likely to be self-limiting or requires further investigation. She manages childhood asthma, including diagnosis, treatment planning and regular review of symptom control. Her expertise further covers gastroenteritis and dehydration, with attention to fluid status and the need for rehydration; iron deficiency anemia, which may be identified through growth monitoring or blood tests and treated with appropriate supplementation and dietary guidance; and urinary tract infections in children, which require prompt recognition and follow-up.

How Dr. Kalkan works with international patients

Families traveling from abroad are supported by the Acibadem international patient team, which coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation with Dr. Kalkan typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing records, vaccination history and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options with the parents or guardians.
