Aydın Aksoy, MD

Aydın Aksoy, MD is a cardiologist in the Cardiology Department of Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla, where his work also includes cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. He has more than 45 years of experience in medicine. His clinical interests cover ischemic heart disease, heart valve disease, atrial fibrillation, hypertension and lipid disorders, together with diagnostic methods such as echocardiography, angiography and Holter rhythm monitoring.

Dr. Aksoy graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1981 and completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1987. He worked as a specialist physician at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and at Adana State Hospital from 1991 to 1993. He subsequently practiced at Seyhan Hospital from 1994 to 2000 and at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine from 2002 to 2003. Between 2004 and 2006 he served as Başhekim (chief physician) at Universal Bodrum Hospital, and from 2007 to 2011 he practiced at İstanbul Cerrahi Hospital. He has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2012.

Clinical focus

Dr. Aksoy evaluates and manages a range of cardiovascular conditions. These include ischemic heart disease, heart valve disease and aortic stenosis, atrial septal defect, and rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation. He also follows patients with hypertension, hypotension and hyperlipidemia, conditions that are often assessed and managed over time rather than in a single visit. Treatment plans in these areas are individualized and depend on the findings of the clinical examination and diagnostic tests.

Diagnostic work forms an important part of his practice. He uses echocardiography to assess the structure and function of the heart and its valves, Holter rhythm monitoring to record heart rhythm over an extended period, and angiography to examine the coronary arteries. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is a further area of his work, in which supervised programs are used to support patients with heart and lung conditions in regaining physical capacity. The suitability of any test or rehabilitation program is determined on an individual basis after clinical assessment.

How Dr. Aksoy works with international patients

Dr. Aksoy speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as echocardiography, CT or angiography reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
