Prof. Ayşe Sarıoğlu, MD

Prof. Ayşe Sarıoğlu, MD is a Pediatric Cardiology specialist practicing at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul, within the Pediatrics unit. Her work centers on the cardiac assessment and care of children. Dr. Sarıoğlu has more than 55 years in medicine and holds the academic title of professor.

She has co-authored papers on topics including surgical approaches to atrioventricular septal defects and tetralogy of Fallot, congenital cardiac reoperations, systemic-to-pulmonary shunt operations in neonates with ductus-dependent pulmonary blood flow, biventricular and univentricular repair after pulmonary artery band surgery, and early results and late failure management of Fontan procedures, published in journals such as the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology, the Archives of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the Turkish Journal of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery, the Journal of Heart Valve Disease and The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon. These publications describe collaborative clinical work; individual treatment decisions depend on each child’s specific findings.

How Dr. Sarıoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Sarıoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example echocardiography or other ultrasound reports, MRI or CT reports, X-rays, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and any previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options that may be appropriate. Video consultation is available for international patients, which can be used for an initial review of records or for follow-up discussion.
