Dyt. Ayşegül Akkaya Erden

Dyt. Ayşegül Akkaya Erden is a dietitian in the Nutrition & Diet unit at Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir, with a subspecialty focus on the treatment of obesity. She has more than nine years of professional experience in nutrition and dietetics. Her career includes Acıbadem Healthcare Services, which she joined in 2022, as well as earlier positions at Adana Seyhan Devlet Hospital (2020–2022), Özel Medical Park İzmir Hospital (2018–2020) and Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital (2017–2018). Since 2026 she has also served as Eskişehirspor A Takım Diyetisyeni.

She graduated from Kastamonu University in 2018 and completed a master’s degree at İstanbul Nişantaşı University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2024. Her continuing training includes the Diabetes Dietitians Association Carbohydrate Counting Training and SEAM Academy Nutrition & Sports Education (2017); the Turkish Neonatology Association Premature and Pediatric Nutrition Training, 5. Doğu Akdeniz Diyabet Akademisi, the 8th Congress of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Surgery, the 6th International Çukurova Gastrointestinal Diseases and Surgery and the Health Sciences University 1st International Congress on Nutrition in Sports and Exercise (2023); the 2nd National Pediatric Nutrition Congress (2025); and, in 2026, The European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) LLL Course Certificate in Nutritional Support in Neurological Diseases, the Turkish Football Federation Nutrition Expertise Course in Football and the 13th Gazi Endocrinology Metabolic Diseases, Women’s Health and Pregnancy Symposium. She is a member of the Türkiye Diyetisyenler Association, Pediatric Nutrition and Metabolism Association (ÇBMD), Oncology Dietetics Association, Clinical Enteral Parenteral Nutrition Association (KEPAN), Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Dietetics Association (MBCDD), Lösev and Çeaş Graduates Association.

Clinical focus

Her clinical work centers on obesity management and on nutrition for metabolic conditions, including diabetes nutrition, metabolic disease nutrition and cardiovascular nutrition. She also provides oncology nutrition and eating disorder nutrition programmes, and works with children and adolescents on weight management. In each case, the nutrition plan is developed in relation to the patient’s diagnosis, ongoing medical treatment and individual circumstances, and is reviewed over time as the clinical picture changes.

A further area of her practice concerns nutrition across different stages of life and activity, including pregnancy nutrition, menstrual cycle nutrition, menopause nutrition and longevity nutrition. She also has training and experience in sports nutrition, including nutrition in football, which she applies to athletes and to physically active patients whose dietary needs differ from those of the general population.

Dyt. Ayşegül Akkaya Erden consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used for an initial assessment or for follow-up where this is clinically appropriate.
