Bülent Özşeker, MD

Bülent Özşeker, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Radiology unit with a subspecialty focus on Interventional Radiology. His clinical work centers on diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound and mammography, together with image-guided interventional procedures.

Dr. Özşeker studied medicine at İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1979 and 1984 and completed his radiology training at the same institution in 1992. He then worked at Özel Haznedar Hospital from 1992 to 1993, at Biltıp Computed Tomography Center from 1993 to 1995 and at Özel Ömür Hospital from 1995 to 2000. In 2006 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He is a member of the Turkish Radiology Association and of the Kırım Türkleri Yardımlaşma Association.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Özşeker’s practice involves ultrasound imaging, which is used to examine soft tissues and organs without ionizing radiation. Doppler ultrasound, a related technique that assesses blood flow in vessels, is another area of his expertise. These examinations are commonly requested to clarify findings from a clinical examination or to follow a known condition over time, and the results are interpreted in the context of the patient’s history and any previous imaging.

Dr. Özşeker also has a particular interest in breast diseases. His work in this area includes mammography and breast ultrasound, which are used in the evaluation of breast symptoms and in the characterization of findings that require further assessment. Within interventional radiology, he performs image-guided procedures, in which ultrasound or other imaging is used to direct a needle or instrument to a specific target. The suitability of any imaging study or image-guided procedure is decided on an individual basis after review of the clinical picture and existing reports, and Dr. Özşeker works alongside the referring physicians who are responsible for the patient’s overall care.

How Dr. Özşeker works with international patients

Dr. Özşeker speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options, including whether further imaging or an image-guided procedure may be appropriate. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their imaging findings or questions before or after traveling to İstanbul.
