Prof. Dr. A. Çağrı Büke

Prof. Dr. A. Çağrı Büke is a specialist in Infectious Diseases & Clinical Microbiology working in the Infectious Diseases Department at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir) in İzmir and at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla. He has more than 37 years in medicine, and his clinical interests include lower respiratory tract infections, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, as well as sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Büke graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1989 and completed his specialty training in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at the same faculty in 1996, having worked there as a research assistant from 1991 to 1996. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2001 and Professor in 2007, and served as a faculty member in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine from 1998 to 2017. In 2000 he was a visiting clinician at the Infectious Diseases and Hospital Infection Control Unit of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. Between 2005 and 2006 he worked as a research assistant in the Hospital Hygiene and Infection Control Unit at Université Paris IV Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital, and in 2006 he completed a diploma at Université Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France. From 2017 to 2020 he was a faculty member in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, and in 2020 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He is a member of the Turkish Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (KLİMİK) Association, the Société Française d’Hygiène Hospitalière, the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), the Turkish Medical Association and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).

Dr. Büke’s clinical work centers on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology. A particular area of interest is lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia. Assessment in these conditions generally involves a review of the patient’s history and symptoms, a clinical examination and an evaluation of any available laboratory and imaging findings, so that the likely cause of the infection can be identified and a suitable plan of care discussed.
