Prof. Can Küçük, MD

Prof. Can Küçük, MD is a General Surgery specialist at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where he works in the General Surgery unit. He remained in the Department of General Surgery there, serving as Assistant Associate Professor from 1999 to 2006 and as Associate Professor from 2006 to 2011. In 2006–2007 he worked at the United States of America Florida University Department of Laparoscopic Surgery. He was appointed Professor at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 2011 and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in the same year. He is a member of professional bodies including the Turkish Colon and Rectal Surgery Association, the Turkish Obesity Surgery Association, the Turkish Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Turkish Surgery Association and the National Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association. His published work includes studies on single incision laparoscopic repair of recurrent inguinal hernias, the D-dimer test in nontraumatic acute abdomen, internal hernia, recurrent liver hydatid disease and postoperative intraperitoneal adhesion formation.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Küçük’s practice is the treatment of hemorrhoids and other anorectal diseases. He also manages colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer, and performs colorectal surgery. Groin hernia repair is a further area of his work, and his publications include surgical results for laparoscopic repair of recurrent inguinal hernias.

In upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery, he assesses and treats patients with obesity, including sleeve gastrectomy, and performs reflux surgery. His practice also includes cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), thyroid surgery, mastectomy and oncological surgery. Whether a particular operation is appropriate is determined individually after clinical assessment and review of the patient’s findings.
