Clinical focus

The clinical work of Dr. Güneş centers on two closely related areas: anesthesiology and reanimation care. Reanimation care refers to the management of patients whose vital functions need support, for example after major procedures or during periods of critical illness. In this setting, careful observation and stepwise adjustment of treatment are used to support the patient over time. Dr. Güneş brings to this work many years of hospital-based experience, including his period at a training and research hospital dedicated to women’s and children’s diseases. As with all medical care, the specific approach taken depends on the individual patient, and decisions are made together with the other physicians responsible for the patient’s treatment.

How Dr. Güneş works with international patients

Dr. Güneş communicates with patients in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. For patients who are not yet in İstanbul, a video consultation can be arranged so that the patient’s situation and any questions about anesthesia or reanimation care can be discussed in advance of travel. The information gathered at this stage helps the treating team prepare for the patient’s arrival and plan the further course of care.
