Caner İşkorur, MD

Caner İşkorur, MD is an Emergency Medicine physician who works in the Emergency Service at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir) in İzmir. Dr. İşkorur graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. In the same year he worked in the Emergency Department of Siirt Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatric Diseases Hospital. From 2014 to 2018 he trained as an Emergency Medicine Resident at Akdeniz University Hospital and completed his Emergency Medicine specialty training at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 2018. He then served as an Emergency Medicine Specialist at Şırnak Cizre State Hospital from 2018 to 2021, followed by a position at Private Manavgat Yaşam Hospital in 2021, where he worked as Emergency Medicine Specialist and General Manager. In 2024 he completed TATD Afet Okulu, a disaster school program, as well as the Basic Ultrasonography Course of the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. İşkorur’s work is concentrated on the acute assessment and management of patients presenting to the emergency department. A central part of his practice is trauma care, in which injured patients are evaluated, stabilized and directed to further treatment as their condition requires. He also focuses on breathing-related emergencies, including acute hypoxia and airway obstruction, where timely recognition and management of the airway and oxygenation are the primary concerns.

Another area of interest is environmental emergencies. These include drowning and related incidents, as well as reactions to bee stings and complications of tick bites. In these situations, care typically involves assessing the severity of the exposure, monitoring the patient’s condition and providing supportive and symptom-directed treatment in the emergency setting. His training in disaster medicine and basic ultrasonography complements this emergency practice.

How Dr. İşkorur works with international patients

Dr. İşkorur consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. Video consultations for international patients are also offered, which may be helpful for an initial review or follow-up when travel is not immediately possible.
