Cüneyt Uçar, MD

Cüneyt Uçar, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla. He has more than 29 years in medicine, most of them spent in emergency departments. From 2000 to 2013 he was an Emergency Physician at Samsun Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatric Diseases Hospital, and from 2010 to 2013 he also served as the Responsible Physician of that hospital’s Emergency Department. Between 2014 and 2022 he was an Emergency Physician at Private Samsun Liman Hospital, and from 2017 to 2022 he was the Emergency Department Responsible Physician at Private Liman Hospital. During the same period, from 2014 to 2022, he also worked in workplace medicine.

Clinical focus

Dr. Uçar’s emergency practice covers acute injuries and time-sensitive conditions. Trauma is one of his main areas of work, with assessment of injured patients and management of their immediate needs. He also treats breathing-related emergencies, including airway obstruction and acute hypoxia, where early recognition of reduced oxygen supply and support of the airway are central to care.

A further part of his work involves environmental emergencies, which are relevant in a coastal setting such as Bodrum. These include drowning and related incidents, as well as insect bites and stings. Within this group he manages bee stings and tick bites, where the clinical picture can range from local reactions to more significant systemic responses. The approach in each case depends on the patient’s presentation, history and the findings at examination.

How Dr. Uçar works with international patients

Dr. Uçar speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. For international patients, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling or to follow up after a visit; in emergency settings, the in-person assessment of urgent symptoms remains the basis of care.
