Elif Dinçer, MD

Elif Dinçer, MD is a Radiology specialist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she works within the Radiology unit. Clinical focus

Dr. Dinçer’s clinical activity is focused on magnetic resonance imaging. This includes conventional MRI examinations as well as open magnetic resonance imaging, a form of MRI performed in a scanner with an open design rather than a closed tube. The choice between these examination types depends on the clinical question, the region of the body being examined and the individual circumstances of the patient, and it is made together with the referring physician.

A central part of her role is diagnostic imaging interpretation. In this capacity she reviews imaging studies, prepares written reports and communicates findings to the treating physicians who use them for diagnosis and for planning further care. Imaging findings are considered alongside the patient’s history, symptoms and previous examinations; a radiology report is one element in the overall clinical assessment rather than a stand-alone conclusion. How Dr. Dinçer works with international patients

Dr. Dinçer speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options, including whether further imaging may be helpful. Video consultation is available for international patients, which can be used to review existing imaging and reports and to discuss whether an in-person examination is needed. Any recommendations for additional imaging follow from this review and are made in coordination with the patient’s treating physicians.
